About Garden Planner
Why we built this
It started the way most side projects do — with a problem we couldn't find a good solution for. We wanted gardening advice that actually knew our garden. Not generic zone charts. Not apps that assume everyone has the same soil, the same sun, the same ambitions.
Most gardening tools fall into two camps: too simple to be useful, or so complex they feel like work. We wanted something in between — an advisor that learns your specific setup and gives you practical, timely guidance without the overhead.
What it does
Garden Planner is an AI-powered gardening advisor that gets to know your garden — your hardiness zone, soil type, sun exposure, and what you're actually growing. From there it gives you:
- Personalized weekly tasks so you never miss a planting window or forget to fertilize.
- Shopping lists built from your plan, with product search across real retailers.
- Expert content from trusted gardening voices, matched to what's relevant for your garden right now.
- Sun tracking — upload a photo and get an analysis of light exposure across your yard.
- Garden reimagination — visualize what your space could look like with different plantings and designs.
You can ask it anything, anytime. The advice is grounded in your profile, your plants, and real-time weather and seasonal data.
Where we're headed
We're working on bringing real gardening experts onto the platform — people with decades of hands-on experience in specific climates, soils, and plant families. The idea is that you'll be able to follow the experts you trust, and your recommendations will be shaped by both AI and genuine human expertise.
AI is powerful for synthesis and personalization, but it's no substitute for someone who's been tending a garden in your region for thirty years. We want to bring both together.
Built with care
This is a passion project. We're gardeners ourselves — the kind who check on tomatoes before checking email. The AI here is a tool to help you learn and stay organized, not to replace your own judgment or the wisdom of the local nursery owner who knows your neighborhood's microclimates.
We think the best gardening software should feel like a knowledgeable friend, not a dashboard.
We'd love to hear from you
We're actively building and genuinely want feedback — what works, what doesn't, what you wish existed. If you have thoughts, ideas, or just want to say hello, reach out any time. This is a small team and we read everything.
